The extension piece for the Aerobin composter is also insulated to retain heat and stop cold ambient air from reaching the biomass. The extension piece easily snaps into your existing Aerobin composter to bring you over 20 cubic feet of insulated composting space and is made of the same heavy duty material as the original Aerobin. The ideal composter just got bigger and better.

The extender works fine. It does make the top of the composter about 6 feet above ground level so you need a step to look inside.

The bottom edge of the extender has four black eighth inch by half inch by half inch tabs, two on each of two sides. There are slots on the top edge of the AEROBIN that line up with these tabs but are not deep enough. I took a jig saw and cut notches to let the tabs into the AEROBIN and it snapped into place. I could have cut some off the tabs and accomplished the same result.

I did not take the time to photograph the tabs and slots and once snapped into place it was too late.
