Raised-Bed Gardening System - 8ft. x 8ft., Model# 6309 Review

I live in Michigan. So we only get about 3-4 months of good gardening here. So I figured I would buy a raised gardening bed, so that the soil will thaw faster, and I might get a little more time to garden. I seen this at a local store and loved it, but it was almost 1,000. NOT so impressive. Being in MI, I knew the price would drop, and it did! I got it fairly cheap, at about $300. I wasn't able to use it til the following year. Overall, I have owned it for about 4-5 years now, and I love it. I would actually like to buy a second one to add on.

I'm going to start off with the bad

Cons:
The only major cons I found on this was the hosing. The hoses break very easily. I have had to replace the center hose twice, and I still have a problem with it getting a hole in it. The irrigation hose is kind of the same way. It is a soaker hose, so it is nice, but, I have had to replace it, because once again, the hose got a hole in it.

I have also had to replace the timer for the irrigation. With this, it is something that comes with time. Over time, with any electronic, it goes bad and has to be replaced, especially in MI!

When assembling, the wood did split a small amount, but overall, it was nothing to concern me with.

Pros:
I could go on for hours with the pro's, but we will keep it short and simple. I love the face that it came with a soaker hose. I have learned that if you can water the soil during peak sun hours, without hitting the plants, that the plants overall will do a lot better, produce a lot more produce. Yes, I have had to replace the hose, but the soaker hose is only about $20 if that.

It is made of cedar. Granted, you are supposed to repaint/stain the entire box once a year or every other year. I have done this, and have not noticed any problems with the wood at all.

The overall lay out. I love the fact that it has a gate to it, and it is raised as high as it is, off the ground. The gate keeps the little critters, including my dogs, out, so that I can have the perfect garden!

Overall, I have had MANY people compliment on the garden system and ask if they could buy it from me, or where they could buy it. I love the fact that the pieces that hold the soil in, have good vents for extra water to go out, so as not to over water the system. I am very happy with this and have suggested it to many of my friends and family!!!
