This really low profile "plate" of heavy, coated metal with a good, sturdy metal vertical receptacle, is exactly what we wanted for a light weight DIY sunshade in our back yard. Our plot did not allow for a (legal) trellis, so we bought 10 of them to line the back fence, away from the house. Using a 1 3/8th inch metal fence post, and a plastic tee with a pvc horizontal member, we are planning to install Coolaroo sunshade fabric and look forward to a much more useable side yard. The small holes on the base can be used for the little black feet that were sent along, or, you can do as we are going to and use a concrete screw to anchor the bases even further.

Before we install the back patio cover, we are going to use the whole setup to provide shade for a park wedding! Double duty!

The color is a light gray, the cost (with free shipping) was less here than other places (I did extensive online research) and the quality appears to be excellent. My UPS guy was struggling with the 40 lbs each, but I explained that he lucked out, I could have bought the 70 lb ones!
