Swisher RC18552BS 18.5 HP Tow Behind Rough Cut Mower Electric Start, 52-Inch Review

Purchased the Swisher RC18552BS at a local shop and first off, it's a huge mower (~ 700 lbs)so unless you're pulling on flat hard ground, you're going to need one of the larger displacement ATVs on the market (I'm using KQ-750). Upon inspection, noticed that several of the bolts holding the deck together are missing nuts; looks like they spun the bolts and forgot to put nuts on the other side (Quality Control Issue?). A trip to home depot for 4 3/8" lock nuts, disconnect the battery and spark plug, reach under the mower and good to go. Next, per the instructions, fired up the mower, engaged the belt and let it run for 5-minutes. Next, hooked to the ATV and started rolling. This mower rolls right over everything in it's path, leaving nothing but stubble behind. Took down a grove of 2" scrub trees with no problem whatsoever. Tall grass was also quickly dispatched. My only thought here is that the controller unit that attaches to the ATV is a bit sticky controlling the throttle, it seems to be unresponsive due to the length of cable. I'll have to get creative and see if there is a way to make it work a bit better. Offsetting this mower from middle to left or right is very easy and quick. Adjusting the height of the mower deck looks to be somewhat of a chore; I will likely leave it at factory setting and forget about it. Overall, the unit works very well at clearing brush. The nice thing about such a large mower deck is, of course, less time spent mowing. For the price, this mower is hard to beat but if you're rolling in dough the Kunz Engineering AcrEase might be a better option. I'll try to provide updates to this review as I have time to use the unit more over the course of the summer. 4-Stars for overall price and performance.
